Caroline O'Connell 02/09/2003 13:10:52 EST
Best of Luck, Frankie. It's a bit ridiculous that it went so far. It's not like you're pumping steroids. When you've made no secret of your use of Ventolin, it's disappointing that you should be penalised. The fact that you are asthmatic and are good enough to play for your country should be celebrated and seen as an inspiration to other asthmatics that their condition is not a barrier to success. I hope the ban is overturned.

Karen Keating 02/09/2003 13:10:52 EST
Best of luck today, may your ban be overturned.

BANNER SUPPORTER 02/09/2003 13:10:52 EST

Colin Grealy 02/09/2003 13:10:52 EST
Good luck with the appeal man. I was an asthmatic myself when I was a kid, and instead of persecuting you, the IRB should be celebrating your success over asthma.

Bhekizulu Zwangobani 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
I believe it is a travesty of justice if a man is punished for having to protect his health. The war on drug in sport is absolutely important but distinctions should be drawn between the enemy and bystanders. The innocent should never suffer for the guilty. Asthmatics in sport the world over wish Frankie the best!

Jim Durkin 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
Hope you get of this ridiculous charge and we get to see you down under - Best of luck

Ann McCann 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
My son also uses an inhaler playing sport so I can identify with your problem - good luck I hope justice will prevail

Michael O'Connor 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
Best of Luck with the appeal today Frankie. Looking forward to seeing you back on the pitch for Munster and Ireland.

Tadhg Dowling, Australia 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
Best of luck Frankie. My nine-year-old son is an asthmatic and a footballer and I would hate to see him hesitate about using his inhaler.

Pete Burkley 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
Frankie, I'm confident that you'll be cleared and look forward to cheering you on next month in Oz.

Ross Leahy 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
As an asthmatic of over 30 years, I am appalled that these beauracrats can be so plain dumb. Surely it is easy to determine a real asthmatic from someone who is taking ventolin unnecessarily. These officials are obviously paid from the public purse and need not justify how they spend time and resources. Best of luck Frankie - As a Kiwi I want all teams turning up at full strength so we can really claim to have beaten the best.

Gerard Holland Bandon/Sydney 01/09/2003 13:31:10 EST
Good luck Frankie, It would be great to see you scrum down under. They stuffed it up.

Dr.Tony Price-Brown 31/08/2003 11:10:54 EST
AS a doctor and a rugby man I find this issue both ridiculous and worrying. To deny an asthmatic correct medication in time of need is both dangerous and sends out totally the wrong message to other asthmatic athletes.Let good sense prevail,Frankie be re-instated and challenging for a plane ticket to Oz.

If the ERC council got up off their fat arses and had to run their hearts and lungs out like yourself for the love of their team, then they might understand what passion means. I am sure they must take their heads out of their ***** for 5 mins and pay attention on Monday to reality and what the experts have to say....(Neill Francis the muppet not included as an expert)!
