Best of luck with the appeal frankie.we hope common sense will prevail and that you and your family can put this mess behind you and concentrate on successful world and european cup campaigns.

Ed Burke 8/27/2003 7:16:10 PM EST
This 2 year ban is scandoulous in the extreme. The only message this sends out is that asthmatics are not entitled to play sport! It's time our Government Ministers got off their backsides and got involved. You can be sure that if it was an Irish international soccer player involved here, Bertie would have enough to say.

Joshua 8/27/2003 4:23:09 PM EST
Best of luck for next week. I really hope that you will be playing for Ireland at the World Cup. BEST OF LUCK! YOU HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT.

Noel 8/27/2003 3:05:11 PM EST
Best of luck on the 1st Sept. Hard to imagine how a sporting body could come to that conclusion.

Louise 8/27/2003 3:05:11 PM EST
Hi there Frankie, Hope all goes well on Monday! You have full support and best wishes from my whole family. Will be great to see you in action again.

paul & leah 8/27/2003 3:05:11 PM EST
Frankie best of luck next week, we are right behind you. see you at the world cup!

Noelette 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST
Hey, I've had asthma since i was born, Im 21 now and haven't had an attack since i was 12. Thats only because I use my inhalers as directed and when I feel I need them. having an attack is scary. I feel that the people who imposed the ban did not handle the case properly, and complete lack empathy with Frankie and others with the same condition. I hope the ban is lifted. Best of luck in the future.

Damo Murphy 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST
Keep the head up Frankie, everyone is behind you. Good luck on the 1st. Just will prevail. We will see you tearing around the pitch again in Aussieland. (Shanakiel old school)

Olivia 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST
Every good wish, Frankie, with the forthcoming appeal. Look forward to see you on the pitch very soon. You are missed.

Lorraine O D 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST
Best of Luck in your appeal, as an asthma sufferer myself I know very often you do need to administer a lot of ventolin - the whole situation is a disgrace!!

Miriam 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST
Just wanted to add my voice to the thousands of supporters and fellow asthma sufferers who are appalled at this ridiculous decision by the ERC to ban one of Ireland's top athletes. What kind of message is this sending out to young asthma-suffering athletes - is the ERC trying to prevent asthmatics from participating in playing rugby or any other sport? Nevertheless, the best of luck on 1st Sept, Frankie - you WILL be totally exhonerated.

Munster Fan 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST
Hey frankie it just goes to show the rucks and mauls don't just happen on the field. Win this scrum and you will be back playing for us again!

Liz Ahern 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST

Mary Hayes 8/27/2003 1:14:04 PM EST

Kieran 8/26/2003 11:37:34 AM EST
Frankie. As an asthma sufferer myself I cannot believe how you've been treated. People like you should be held up as an example of how not to let a medical condition stop you achieving your potential on the sporting field. I hope everything works out for you in Sept. You have my 100% support !!

newcastlewest rfc 8/26/2003 11:37:34 AM EST
best of luck with your appeal frankie. where all 100% behind you. hoping to see you back in the munster and irish jersey as soon as possible.

Shelly, UL, Limerick, ; ) 8/26/2003 10:24:55 AM EST
As a fellow asthmatic i think its not only fair that you should have an equal playing field as all the rest, having to depend on an inhaler to aid breathing should not be a punishable offence, nor should it be seen as a reason to end someones professional career. i feel very strongly that this is sending out the wrong message to the young impressionable athletes who look upon the likes of frankie sheehan as their role model. my god there are worse 'drugs' out there that a person could be taking frankie, for what its worth, i wish you the best of luck, for now and for the world cup ;)

Leo 8/26/2003 10:09:22 AM EST
Red tide of support is stronger than ever and right behind you Frankie, justice will prevail no question.

Best of luck with the appeal and we look forward to seeing you back in the red shirt for this season's games.

Jack McGee 8/25/2003 2:50:20 PM EST
It's high time the international sporting community and the people who run the various sporting organisations stopped messing good athletes with legitimate and common conditions ( like asthma) around. All these athletes want to do is play for their club/country and they are being denied this opportunity by bureaucratic, incompetent officials. It's truly a disgrace how some of these organisations are run and needless to say nobody would dare penalise them or their employees for their incompetence and reckless behaviour. Is it time that the real assets of these organisations - the players and athletes - took action and stand firm against the blazers and sheepskin coats ?? Good luck Frankie.

Big Dave 8/25/2003 2:50:20 PM EST
Frankie, it's not the first time this bunch of eejits has messed around with Munster, and it won't be the last. I wasn't sure what to believe after the announcement, maybe I thought you had gone and tried to cod us all. But having read so much material and details about how the ERC have handled this case, I know you'll be back in the red shirt soon. We're with you on this Frankie!

jane 8/25/2003 2:50:20 PM EST
hope everything goes according toplan with the appeal and we will see frankie back on the pitch where he belongs. I cant believe that this is even taking as long as it is cause we all know thesimple reason behind this a simple error it could happen to the pope. Liam Holmes 8/25/2003 10:32:31 AM EST
The last couple of months must have been a nigntmare for you as an athlete and an asthmatic! Sense will hopefully prevail at the appeal. All the best and looking forward to seeing you back in Munster and Irish colours next month!

Lansdowne RFC New York 8/25/2003 4:35:50 AM EST
Just when rugby in Europe is beginning to match the southern hemishere you get knuckle-heads like these making ridiculous decisions. Its safe to say they've cost us at least one Cup.I hope they get some sense behind the decision making and let you back where you belong.Keep the faith.

Gary & Jen Murphy in Tucson, Arizona 8/25/2003 4:35:50 AM EST

Allergic sportsman 8/22/2003 7:22:24 PM EST
So the IOC and WADA want you to stay below 1000ng per ml of urine, the sun beats down, the games tough, you're allergic to pollen, and you want to play by the rules. You get an asthmatic attack, you fear testing positive, you throw away the inhaler, and collapse.....comatose: Question: who is liable for your sudden loss of health?? WADA? IOC? A bloody dangerous game, boys!

Brendan Quinn 8/22/2003 7:22:24 PM EST
as Editor of www.sports-drugs.com and as a Pharmacist, asthmatic and GAA footballer, I agree totally with

Paul O Keeffe 8/22/2003 5:43:23 PM EST
Frankie Sheahan over the past few years has embodied everything that is good and honest about sport and specifically Munster rugby. We have followed this fine players exploits throughout europe with pride and will continue to offer unequivical support, not simply because he is a sportsman, but because he is a man of integrity and one of our own.

Premier Red 8/22/2003 5:43:23 PM EST
As a life long asthmatic and avid sportsman, I sympathise completely with Frankie. I have spent my entire sporting life sucking on ventolin inhalers and doing so 8/10 times through the life cycle of a game was never beyond me, particularly in times of inclement weather or high velocity encounters. True this may be seen as just habit but never the less, it is a fact of an asthmatics life particularly when involved in sport at a high level. It appals me to see uninformed judgements being passed, Frankie, you have my ultimate support and hopefully the right decision will be made on Sept 1st.....best of luck mate, we need you.

Muiris Horgan 8/22/2003 5:06:51 PM EST
Best of luck Frankie in your appeal, hopefully justice will win the day. From Muiris Horgan and everybody in Castleisland RFC

Ballynanty End 8/22/2003 12:54:04 PM EST
Best of luck to you and your team for the challange ahead on the 1st Sept. Over the past 20 years, you have meet all challenges head-on and won. Once you walk away victorious from this appeal with your head held high, we can all look back at the ERC for the pityful bunch they are. Then get on with your Rugby and life and SUE the bast**ds in the courts. Take them for millions in the Courts and your action and inspiration will be the legal prescedent for all futute appeals. Our full support is with you every step of the way.

Santo 8/22/2003 12:54:04 PM EST
As Jimmy Cliff once sang

Brian G 8/22/2003 12:18:39 PM EST
Hang in there Frankie. Stay fit and I'm sure will see you back in the Munster and Ireland jersey before you know it. That fact that a player of your class, skill and honour gets banned because of red tape is a disgrace. Your top class, never give up! UP MUNSTER!

Colm 8/22/2003 11:40:56 AM EST
Frankie, looking forward to seeing you in the Munster colours again soon. Best of luck and remember keep the head up and stand up and fight !

Elena King 8/22/2003 11:40:56 AM EST
I am writing to express my full support to Frankie and his family. The rules have to be changed in relation to medication as opposed to drugs. No one wants to see drugs in sport but even top sportsmen can be asthmatic. They can't help it any more than other mortals and have to take medication to be able to do their job. They should not be penalised for the condition they have no control over. Good luck with your hearing, Frankie, and hope to see you soon in the red shirt of Munster. Look forward to the next encounter with the Tigers (hopefully we'll beat you, though!) Best of luck to you and your family

Big Toome 8/22/2003 10:26:57 AM EST
Best of luck on the 1st Frankie. See you at the World Cup

donnybrook 8/22/2003 10:26:56 AM EST
I hope alan has the no.2 jersey ready for you on the 5/9/03. best of luck

Terry Murphy 8/22/2003 9:17:03 AM EST
Frankie, I am appalled at the ban handed out be the ERC & can only hope that they see sense and allow you back in the Red Shirt asap. Best of luck in the appeal & hope to see you playing again soon. All the best, Terry

Kieran Leahy 8/22/2003 9:17:03 AM EST
From a Boherbue man and a fellow asthmatic, I wish you the best of luck in clearing your name Frankie, and look forward to seeing you in the World Cup.

Fearghus Mc Cormack -- New Zealand 8/22/2003 9:17:03 AM EST
Best of luck with the appeal. The ban is so ludicrous it'd be funny if it wasn't for the effect it could have if the ERC don't get their heads out of their asses. Looking forward to seeing you in the Munster & Ireland jersey again.

Ronan Hurley 8/22/2003 1:38:46 AM EST
Hi Frankie, PJ here. Best of Luck from me, Liam, Sinéad and Mary. We know you did nothing wrong and have full confidence that this cretinous ban will be lifted. It's quite clear that the ERC have dismissed clear evidence and the facts to make a pointless example of a professional player. This kind of stupidity sends out a terrible message to sports men and women who suffer from medical conditions. To me it also suggests that the ERC are willing to place the health of the players in Jeopardy by punishing someone for taking Medication. As for the Form, as i said to Frankie a few months back, players should only have to sign one form, standardised by the IRB which should cover all competitions, International, European and AIL. Would it be the hardest thing in the world to photocopy these forms and send them to the relevant associations.

Nathan, London 8/22/2003 1:05:50 AM EST
Frankie, I am writing to you from London and let me say that there is massive support mounting here in England in your favour....... Munsterman 8/21/2003 6:37:45 PM EST
Great idea this website. Like Conor (below), I also feel that ERC have cocked up so often that it is hard to take them seriously. Lassissi, Landers, Lille jump to mind. Munster supporters need to get behind Frankie and let ERC know what we really feel. Let's not go belly up on this one.

B. Murray 8/21/2003 5:40:15 PM EST

Conor 8/21/2003 5:40:15 PM EST
This isn't the first time the ERC have been on Munster's back - remember the Lassisi affair, the venue selection for Bezier, etc., etc. Surely they must realise that the Munster team and supporters have done more to raise the profile of their competition than anyone else over the past 4 seasons, and have had an impeccable record for good conduct and fair play all through. Here's hoping that hard facts and common sense will prevail and the quest for the Heinekn Cup can continue with everyone on board.

Steve, Belfast 8/21/2003 5:40:15 PM EST

Jack 8/20/2003 11:43:00 AM EST
This hypocritical injustice must end now. If a certain french prop can be cleared of ecstacy and cocaine in his system, and a certain french flanker have his two year ban dismissed for leg biting and a certain all black prop be cleared of similarily high levels of salbutamol, then surely Frankie should be cleared. This incident only highlights the inconsistancy and double standards which has poisoned the game. It now seems that if you are associated with Irish or Munster Rugby you are fair game for the men in blazers. I can`t help but think that if this was an English or Toulouse player that the ERC would be politely be told to F**K OFF.This reminds me of the time that Clohessy was pushed in an international with france and accidently stood on Roumet`s head. He received such a hefty ban that that many people thaught that his career was over, and yet a french player did the exact same thing the following season and received a measly 1 -2 match ban. This situation is outrageous and the only noble response is to be outraged by it. It should be fought and every turn and when Frankies name is cleared we`ll go on and push for the European Cup. P.S. We better remember to bring the Video Referee ( Remember John O`Neills try in Lille)

Jonathan Curtain 8/20/2003 11:27:26 AM EST

Hi Frankie, I would like to add my name in support of your appeal. I believe all the evidence points to your innocence and should this ban be upheld it would be an injustice and a major loss of talent to Irish Rugby. Good Luck

See you in Dublin on the 1st. It's just the french rumbling cause it's the only way they can put a good man down. Best of Luck and hope to see you back wearing YOUR RED No.2 REALLY SOON AGAIN.

Mike Buckley 8/15/2003 2:11:42 PM EST
Best of luck with the appeal Frankie. It would be a tragedy if you were to miss the WC after 4 years of hard slog preparation. But I'm also baffled as to how this could happen at all. Surely if you were on medication you would have checked with the IRFU about permissable levels etc. A lesson to other players out there I suppose. Here's hoping common sense prevails.

Clare 8/15/2003 10:57:05 AM EST
Best of luck on the 1st Frankie. We're all behind you.

Brendan Mullin 8/15/2003 10:32:53 AM EST

We're behind you fella, best of luck. Keep your chin up. Word...

Martin 8/15/2003 10:32:53 AM EST
Dear Lord, Grant the ERC the wisdom to see the folly of their ways and strenght to rectify it, and grant Frankie the opportunity to kick some serious ass below in Oz. Best of luck on 01/09.

Dave 8/15/2003 10:02:31 AM EST
Best of luck Frankie. Munster, Ireland & especially frankie should be compensated for the silly approach that the ERC have taken when he is cleared. They are putting his livelyhood in serious jepordy. They are also upsetting Irelands and Munsters plans for the start of the season which is crucial with the up coming world cup and the begining of the celtic league.

Tj 8/15/2003 10:02:31 AM EST
Best of luck my friend

Ciaran Lehane 8/15/2003 10:02:31 AM EST
Best of Luck with the appeal Frankie, can't wait to see you back in your rightful place on the playing field

GPM 8/15/2003 9:21:30 AM EST
The ERC have acted like a bunch of clowns. They can't justify their actions and you deserve to win and get a full apology. Best of luck & hope you're back for the world cup.

Best of luck from all at Haywards Heath RFC

Mark E. - NZ ex Rock 8/15/2003 9:21:30 AM EST
Good Luck Frankie - I believe there might be a precedent here as an All Black prop ( Joe MacDonnell) in 2001 ( i think against france) got done for a similar offence but got off it after a hearing with the IRB which he had to travel to London to attend.

Ian Stevenson 8/15/2003 12:28:03 AM EST
Frankie best of luck with the hearing. I look foward to catching up with you down here in Melbourne on the 1st of November when you show those Aussies how the game should be played. Keep the head up and keep positive!!!

RHH 8/15/2003 12:28:03 AM EST
Best of luck fella, hope you sort this out. Good luck!

Catherine Granell 8/14/2003 11:01:05 PM EST
Can’t believe the injustice! It is incredible to think that an honest asthmatic player like Frankie could be at risk while taking his prescribed medication. What can we do? I would love to be instrumental in setting the guidelines that separate genuine athletes like Frankie, taking medication, to athletes who misuse drugs. I welcome the opportunity for justice to be done… roll on sept. 1st. …Frankie will be vindicated.

Gower Boy 8/14/2003 10:40:57 PM EST
Most of us here in Wales realise Frankie was shafted by a flawed process. You cannot stop somebody's career like this because of shoddy procedures. Good luck to you Frankie. Hope the appeal succeeds.

charlie 8/14/2003 9:33:14 PM EST

Keep the faith big man - The Fenton's (as well as everyone we know) are with you 100% - These fellas have to see sense on the 1st - It's totally outrageous that this issue went this far into craziness... Anyways - see you soon! All the best, John.

Saw you in Seapoint - looking well! Best of luck Frankie

Eileesh 8/14/2003 1:24:33 PM EST
Best of Luck with the appeal! I & my mother were at the Toulouse game and both of us are Asthmatics, and without any significant exertion on our part both of use were reaching for inhalers during that day ! And I rarely use mine!!

khak 8/14/2003 1:24:33 PM EST
Best of luck Frankie, Were all behind you here in Munster and Ireland

Pat 8/14/2003 1:10:31 PM EST
Forget the appeal, the truth will prevail. Now let's get on to the next question, Sheahan or Woody.......Sheahan.....

Mike Webster 8/14/2003 1:02:40 PM EST
Make no mistake about it Frankie. The support behind you is not blind . This is a gross miscarraige and sends out the wrong signal to Asthmatics in all sports. You have given us wonderful moments in your career and we look forward to seeing you back where you so rightly belong , in a munster, Irish and an 2005 Lions Jersey . We are all behind you - Stand up and fight !

Eileen Gannon 8/14/2003 1:02:40 PM EST
Best of luck Frankie, we'll be thinking of you on the 1st. Looking forward to seeing you back on the pitch very soon!

Jonathan Hayes 8/14/2003 12:21:25 PM EST
Best of Luck Frankie, the sooner common sense prevails on this issue the better for all athletes, supporters and the game of rugby in general

John 8/14/2003 12:01:40 PM EST
Frankie, best of luck in the appeal - although it's not luck that's required - it's the IRFU's need to realise that a gross miscarriage of justice has occurred.

Ronan 8/14/2003 11:56:43 AM EST
The issue is a joke, it is obvious to all there was no misuse of drugs here. Hope the appeal see sense and reverse the decision. Best of Luck

Fergus Buckley 8/14/2003 11:56:43 AM EST
Best of luck Frankie!

Roger 8/14/2003 11:55:07 AM EST

Brian (Limerick) 8/14/2003 11:44:24 AM EST

Lisa Mc Laughlin 8/14/2003 11:33:21 AM EST
Frankie, Wishing you all the best for September 1st. There's only one fair and just decision the ERC can make and thats to vindicate you. Looking forward to seeing you playing for Ireland soon. Leinster Fan!

Kalym 8/14/2003 10:08:03 AM EST
Good luck Frankie! From New Zealand

Tim Kershaw 8/14/2003 10:08:03 AM EST
Surely justice, common sense and good old 'Irish know how' will prevail and not be sacrificed on the alter of administration and bureaucracy. The ERC have made an huge error but, at least have the good sense to allow a second hearing and give themselves the chance to be brave and correct this rough justice. Lets hope the 'black stuff' is flowing a plenty in celebration on 1st September and the Rugby fields will soon be welcoming Frankie back.

Stasia 8/14/2003 10:08:03 AM EST
Good luck Frankie, we have enjoyed all your sucess to date, be it junior cup-under age caps to full caps. Looking forward to much more.

John Crowley 8/14/2003 10:08:03 AM EST
Best of luck Frankie with your appeal

Fermanagh 8/14/2003 10:08:03 AM EST
Having once been the victim of judicial justice I have a slight inkling, but no comprehension as to how you feel. Show the same determintion toward the appeal as you do on the pitch and I have no doubt justice will prevail and although you can never be compensated for mental anguish which you have suffered, I hope that having the knowledge that so many are behind you will be off some comfort to you. After all I think it is fair to say we all have

Marzy 8/14/2003 10:08:03 AM EST
Looking forward to seeing the wrongs put right....and you back on the park. Best of Luck on the 1st, Frankie. See you in Oz in Oct.

Frankie - I wish to see you back on the pitch as soon as possible and especially over here in Australia. It is time to question the controls of the World Rugby committees and the menatlity of its members. Regards - Hugh.

Justice will prevail. Will see you in Oz

Michael Johnson 8/13/2003 10:11:44 PM EST
I have followed your progress right from the start and known to you have been there every step of the way, from the frustration of sitting on the bench waiting for your first cap to the joy of achieving that against the USA in Manchester, New Hampshire a few years ago. I doubted your ability when Woody went off injured against Toulouse in Bordeaux but you proved me wrong. I have never doubted your integrity and sincerity as a person and as a quality rugby player. I have no reason to change my mind and I know you will win the fight, after all every Munster man likes a challenge as I'm sure Gloucester will testify..

T.A.L. 8/13/2003 10:11:44 PM EST
Best of luck with the appeal. T.A.L. Construction.

Jane & Aiden 8/13/2003 10:11:44 PM EST

Declan O'Mahony 8/13/2003 9:41:21 PM EST
Our support to you and yours is unconditional, our belief in your innocence absolute! Unfortunately the hard yards have to be fought off the pitch this time. Roll on sept 1st. and many more years in a Munster and Irish Jersey.

Lenny 8/13/2003 9:21:28 PM EST
Good luck Frankie. Look forward to seeing you back in action for Munster and Ireland. We'll see you in Australia

Larry Ryan 8/13/2003 9:21:28 PM EST

Munsterabu 8/13/2003 8:49:44 PM EST
We'll see you in Oz Frankie, thats for sure. And when it all comes clean take them ( & the Mule Francis ) to the cleaners. Your name is your game.

Seany 8/13/2003 8:49:44 PM EST
Frankie as a player you have always given 100% , hold that attitude and things will work out . Have a fair hearing you and Munster deserve better from the ERC .

Richard (Limerick) 8/13/2003 8:49:44 PM EST
I hope that everything goes well on September 1st and that you'll be back in the Red and White soon. You were brilliant to us on the pitch after we beat Stade in Paris last year. Keep the chin up. Richard.

Chin up Frankie were all behind you

Apoo 8/13/2003 5:26:01 PM EST
Best of luck in the appeal from myself and all the staff at the Kwicky Marts worldwide.

Fergal 8/13/2003 5:26:01 PM EST
I have complete trust in Frankie and wish him all the best with the appeal.

Eilis 8/13/2003 4:56:55 PM EST
Frankie, I don't really know much about your sport, but having read the news reports, and having a brother with asthma myself, its so unfair what they are doing to you now. I'm sure they'll see sense at the appeal. Best of luck and take care.

Daithi 8/13/2003 4:56:55 PM EST
There is a massive difference between overtaking a prescribed medication in stressed circumstances for whatever reason and taking a recognised steroid to enhance performance. I remember drinking 6 litres of gatorade in a Munster cup final in 28deg C once. Medically I probably needed 1.5 but the fact is it was there, it made me feel better and I knew I needed some of it or I would probably have died. I don't see how Frankie can be guilty and charged like he is.

Kay 8/13/2003 4:40:39 PM EST
Cannot believe what has happened. Goes against all ideas of fairness. All the best for the appeal.
